As time goes by, the speed of price movement within a trend can change. It can increase which corresponds to the bigger angle of the [[Trend Lines|trend line]], or decrease and make the [[Trend Lines|trend line]] not that steep. In these cases the correction of already build [[Trend Lines|trend lines]] is necessary. Quite often, before the phases change, the speed of price movement is slowing down. It leads to the trend moving to another [[Trend Lines|trend line]], and the old one is appeared to be broken through. Such reverse can occur several times before the market reverses itself, which leads to the construction of several [[Trend Lines|trend lines]] starting from the one peak – 'apron'. There is a rule of 'apron' for continuation trend: the signal for market reverse is breakthrough of the third line of an 'apron'.

Trend duration and angles of slope

The Dow and Elliot theories give estimations of primary trend correction value (respectively 33%-50%-66% and 38%-50%-62% of the primary trend value). The Gann techniques unites these evaluations, laying special emphasis on the levels multiple of 1/8 and 1/3 of the primary trend swing (i.e. levels 1/8, ј, 1/3, 3/8, Ѕ, 5/8, 2/3, ѕ, 7/8). Besides, according to the Gann theory, support (resistance) levels have not arbitrary but certain stable (commonly occurring) angles of slope. The Gann angles are appraised by tangents, the values of which are: 1/8, ј, 1/3, Ѕ, 1/1, 2/1, 3/1, 4/1, 8/1. Such approach to the angles’ values in the Gann method causes reasonable suspicion, because any indicators in which estimations of the angles’ values are used, do not satisfy the test for homogeneity. In fact, change of measuring units in a diagram (for example, from rubles to thousands of rubles or dollars with fixed rate) leads to the change of trends slope angles. A different matter if you judge by the primary chart scale in a way when one of [[Trend Lines|trend lines]] goes at ""significant"" angle, according to Gann, expecting that other trends will go at other Gann angles. In this case, angles will have not absolute but relative value: [[Trend Lines|trend lines]] are compared with some “baseline”. Such principal was used in graphical analysis of trends (waves) “by Elliot”. Baseline is a segment connecting two points which correspond with the last important pike and valley (base wave). There are correcting lines (Elliot’s apron and Fibonacci’s apron) which start from the baseline and have altitudes equal to 0.62; 0.50; 0.38 of baseline’s altitude. Besides the correction lines there are drawn arches or circles of Elliot (called also Fibonacci arches and Fibonacci circles)are the lines of probable support or resistance as well as the correcting lines. The center of arch is in the last point of the baseline and radiuses of arches equal to 0,62; 0,50; 0,38 of the baseline’s length.
